Having a knack for songwriting is a gift. Being able to share that gift with the people is a blessing. Most amateur songwriters enter a song-writing contest to showcase their talent to the a wider audience. Well, it’s nice to have people listen to your song, but it would be better if you would win that song contest and be given an opportunity to share your song to a wider market.     Songwriters fall prey to writer’s block quite easily. It’s the nature of the beast. As you’re already well aware, there are only so many chords and notes out there with which to work. But as bad as writer’s block may be, it is much, much worse to be suffering from what I call ‘song sameness. ‘This is when a writer just keeps rewriting the same song over and over and over and over and over again. The same chord progression, same tempo, same stylistic touches, the whole works. Be aware of this syndrome when you write your songs.
