Now you have published songs. The songs are undeniably in audio form, with the lyrics and all writing credits are now out in the public, available to everybody. Believe it or not, publication is even better protection than government registration. Consider it the ultimate in protection. You have proof positive of ownership and dates, etc. You have the musicians, engineer, producer, etc., who worked on the album with you who can bear witness that these are your songs.
