Here’s a tip to help you get started on your action plan. If you are the kind of person who is highly creative but a complete nightmare when it comes to organization, start here. Get a large box and pile in every matchbook cover, every bar napkin, every scrap of paper, everything on which you ever scribbled a scrap of lyric or an idea. Then get some large manila envelopes and categorize all the bits of ideas that you have, one envelope labeled ‘Ballad Ideas, the next labeled ‘Rock Ideas, etc. This will help you when you sit down by yourself or with your team to begin writing.
