Leave the Tape Running Ep. 2

This episode features some gold nuggets about songwriting, in the form of an improvised song, plus a performance of my first ever composition. An informal web series for beginner singers, guitarists and songwriters full of personal advice, motivational speaking and stories about my experiences in the Sydney music scene at open mic nights, playing keyboard in John Columbus, singer/songwriting at Madame Fling Flongs and my ongoing adventures with the Chats.

What Do Want To Learn Most About Songwriting?

  • Songwriter Tip:

Government registration costs money, typically a $35 fee (more or less, depending where you live.) This may not sound like much, but for a starving artist it can mean the difference between eating this week and not eating this week. Make sure you at least use poor man’s method. If you do go for government registration, you only need to register the songs you’re bringing into the band, not your whole catalogue. Remember too, that you can copyright a group of songs for the price of one.
