    Here’s another tip about tempo in regards to songwriting. When you begin your songwriting efforts from the lyric, the mood and subject matter will dictate the tempo of the music. Think of some of your favorite ballads and try to imagine them as a fast, up-tempo song. Doesn’t work, does it. The same will hold true in the reverse. Tempo will also be determined by the ease with which the lyrics can be sung.
