There is an art to songwriting. Every form of art requires a process. A process helps you succeed as a songwriter. To help you improve I’ve complied this songwriting challenge. Go though each step. The ideas presented here provide a basic framework for you to start a new song. Most of the steps presented below were generated from the various songwriting tools available on this web site.   • Songwriter Tip:

    As you’re constructing your next melody, when you get to the chorus, I suggest you go up a major third from the last note of the verse to the first note of the chorus. eg: from C to E. This interval has been tested time and time again, and causes the most listener goose-bumps. Someone on the other side of a very big, important desk told me early in my career that ‘a song without a hook isn’t a song. ‘ I’ve never forgotten that.
